Tiziano Vecellio
Tiziano Vecellio- commonly known as Titian- was born in 1485 in Pieve di Cadore, Italy. He died August 27, 1576 in Venice, Italy. His father- a military man- Gregorio, and his mother Lucia had five children- Tiziano being the oldest. The only sibling of his that is known is Francesco Vecellio- he's also a painter. The only close friend of Tiziano that is Phillip II, a Spanish king. They were in close correspondence, and Titian also made paintings for Phillip II's poems- the most well known being Danae.
The myth says that Jupiter impregnated her by creating a shower of gold coins to fall in between her parted legs. Weird, right? People still blush at the painting. He worked- and lived- throughout the Italian Renaissance, the High Renaissance, and the Renaissance. Some of his most famous work is the Nymph and the Shepherd, Allegory of Prudence, and Jacopo Strada. The last letter he sent was asking for payment.

Allegory of Prudence
Jacopo Strada
I wonder if the Allegory of Prudence piece has anything to do with Dante's Inferno, where there are three beast, a lion, leopard and wolf, representing the three divisions of sin. I had never heard of this artist. I like what you said about some of his work still making people blush.
